Work in the summer of 2014 included extensive on-site repairs to a badly damaged glass dome over a large store in the main shopping area of Bournemouth. Liaising with the store maintenance team and a local scaffolding company, safety scaffolding was erected immediately under the dome and I worked from the outside on a cradle of scaffolding boards fitted around the top of the dome. As an area of the upper sales floor was closed for the duration of the works, time was of the essence. New portions of leaded glazing were created and inserted and all of the many broken quarries were replaced with matching glass. Numerous lower sections of the leaded dome were mangled and these were straightened, re-glazed and then strengthened. An intensive cleaning of the glass was performed from the outside, debris removed and the project was finished.
